Mobile Lab

NWOCA Instructional Services maintains a lab of 8 MacBook laptops which can be borrowed for periods of a week by member schools at no cost.

Hardware

The lab can include the following if needed:

  • 8 Macbooks laptop computers
  • 3 Mini DV Video Cameras
  • Firewire Cables
  • 1 Airport Wireless Access Point

Software

The laptops can be booted as either Windows XP or Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) and have iLife'08 (iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto, GarageBand), iWork (Pages, Numbers & Keynote) as well as Microsoft Office and Audacity on both platforms.

Training

An Educational Technologist will be available to do training in conjunction with the loan of the Mobile Lab to a school. Generally for Podcasting and other mulitmedia projects, this will involve the EdTech being present for a couple days at the beginning of the session to give instruction to the students on how to use the software and at the end of the week to finalize the projects (export .mp3s etc.)

The booking of the mobile lab is tracked in our Dynacal calendar which can be viewed online.

The mobile lab is scheduled by notifying Instructional Services that you wish to borrow the lab. It will be dropped off at your school and setup to connect to the network if needed.
