NWOCA Instructional Services Guidelines

Resource Visits:

To make the most effective use of the Instructional Services staff and to control mileage costs, the following guidelines will be used when making a “Resource Visit” to a district. The purpose of these guidelines is to have the greatest impact on the most people in a more efficient manner.
• A minimum of four (4) people (teachers or students) need to be registered prior to the “resource visit” using the online registration. If the visit is related to INFOhio training, as many library staff as possible should be in attendance.
• The registrations must include the specific reason for the appointment (class project, Word Training, MovieMaker training, etc.)
• The reserved appointments should be consecutively grouped together. For example, the times for the meetings with individual teachers should not be spread out during the day. The times should be reasonably grouped together to avoid having large gaps between morning meetings and end of the day meetings.

Inservice Training:

To make the most effective use of the Instructional Services staff and to control mileage costs, the following guidelines will be used when making an “Inservice Training” to a district. The purpose of these guidelines is to have the greatest impact on the most people in a more efficient manner
• The district must guarantee a minimum of five (5 ) people in a training session for a NWOCA INS staff member to conduct the training.
• The district must provide the proper setup for the training: any network setups must be performed by district personnel and any district equipment used in the training must be in good working order.
• NWOCA staff will be sensitive to the district security policies.

Mobile Lab Use:

When a district borrows the Mobile Lab from NWOCA:
• A NWOCA Instructional Technologist will provide training to teachers and students on the proper use of the lab and the software that accompanies the lab.
• A teacher must be present in the classroom while the lab is in use.
• If the lab is in use for a period of time, the NWOCA Instructional Technologists will be available for support but will not be expected to be physically in the classroom for the duration of the project.
• If a NWOCA Instructional Technologist is used for the initial training in the use of the lab, the lab will be delivered to the district by NWOCA personnel.
• If a teacher has previously been trained in the use of the lab and will not need NWOCA personnel for the class project, NWOCA will have the lab ready for pickup at the nearest NWOCA office. School personnel will be responsible for transporting the lab from the NWOCA office to the school.
• The lab should be returned by school personnel to the nearest NWOCA office.
